The Outback Way

The Outback Highway links Winton in Queensland with Laverton in Western Australia, via Boulia, Alice Springs, Uluru and Warburton, a total distance of 2,800 kilometres.

Currently 1,733 kilometres of the route is unsealed, making it one of the nation’s great four wheel drive treks. In dry weather, it’s possible to undertake the journey in a conventional vehicle providing all necessary planning and precautions are taken. For more information on the Outback Highway, visit www.outbackway.org.au

If you’re looking for an epic adventure across Australia’s vast interior, there’s no better way to go than via the Golden Pipeline Heritage Trail, the Golden Quest Discovery Trail and the Outback Highway. Whether you’re travelling west to east or east to west, it’s a most remarkable journey.

Four-wheel drive recommended for this journey.
